Our article on "Visualization in Meteorology-A Survey of Techniques and Tools for Data Analysis Tasks" is featured in the December 2018 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, also discussing Met.3D and related 3D software. The article is currently (December 2018) available for free from the TVCG website.
